Message From the President

Welcome to the website of the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals. This website was created and designed for the purpose of communicating and disseminating information to our members and to the Illinois real estate appraisal profession. On the website you will find ICAP's mission statement, names of officers and board of directors, an on-line directory of ICAP members, current news and activities of ICAP, and links to related appraisal industry websites. We are especially proud of our on-line directory. The directory is a list of appraisers in Illinois who are members of ICAP. Users of real estate appraisal services can use the directory as a tool to find real estate appraisers. ICAP members can be searched by name, city or county.

ICAP provides a unified voice for real estate appraisers in the General Assembly of Illinois. Since we are a government regulated industry and subject to the political process, ICAP serves an important function to all appraisers in Illinois by monitoring and taking action on legislation that may have an impact on the appraisal profession. Our lobbyist in Springfield reports to the board of directors any legislation that may effect, favorably or unfavorably, the real estate appraisal profession in Illinois.

ICAP's annual real estate appraiser update seminars are well known throughout the industry and continue to break attendance records ever year. The seminars are designed to provide information about current issues affecting real estate appraisers and they qualify for seven hours of continuing education. We hope that all State appraisers will attend one of the seminars in the future.

With the creation of our database, we will be able to communicate more effectively with our members. We now have the capability of contacting our members by e-mail and will be able to alert you about pending legislation or provide you with information that is important to real estate appraisers in Illinois. Since we are a government regulated profession, it is important for all real estate appraisers to get involved in the political process. We urge you to participate by meeting with your local senators and representatives and letting them know about issues affecting the real estate appraisal profession. We also would encourage all real estate appraisers to become members of ICAP. The dues are nominal but the mission is important. A membership registration form can be downloaded from the website.

Finally, the board of directors of ICAP encourages input from all real estate appraisers in Illinois. The board is made up of volunteers, all of whom are working professional real estate appraisers. Please feel free to contact anyone of the board members with your suggestions and concerns. Our mission cannot be successful unless all real estate appraisers work together and get involved. We hope this website provides a beneficial service and valuable information to real estate appraisers in Illinois.
